EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department Awaiting New Students

Having been providing high quality education since 1997-1998 Academic Year, Eastern Mediterranean University Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department has graduated 1500 students so far. Boasting the largest student population within Communication and Media Studies Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department currently provides education to 350 students.

Stating that EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department offers high quality education at international standards, Chair of the said department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya added that their department has a multicultural student profile as almost 80% of the students come from countries other than Cyprus and Turkey. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya also put forth that the department offers two identical programs delivered in English and Turkish, respectively.

Touching upon the increasing importance of the profession of Public Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya stated that both public and private institutions are in need of public relations professionals so that they can establish better communications with stakeholders. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya also added that the role of public relations professionals in institutional communications, activity management, crisis management, reputation and image management is very important. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya added that, “During the current day, products have similar qualities so the most important point in making a difference is the advertising business”. Providing information on the department’s goals, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya said “We endeavor to bring up creative marketing communication professionals as well as public relations and advertising experts who are aware of their responsibilities and, at the same time, who can follow the current trends and developments in their field.”

Similar to former years, Public Relations and Advertising Department has taken part in numerous activities during the current year. Stating that their fundamental aim is to deliver high quality education combining theory and practice, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya added that the department ensures the active participation of students in different activities including community involvement projects, cultural trips, exhibitions, graduation projects, product launcing organisations and conferences. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya put forth that having the potential of an array of recruitment possibilities following students’ graduation, the Department of Public Relations and Advertising would be the right choice for students’ future careers.  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya also provided information about the Genesis Public Relations and Advertising Agency operating under the department. Stating that students undertaking duties in the said agency develop various projects and put them into practice, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya added that students in their department are a step closer to their professional practices through project applications. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya also talked about final year students who, through campaign and graduation project courses, gain expertise in integrated campaign practices in the service and production sectors prior to their graduation.

Wishing all students taking EMU Entrance and Scholarship Exam success, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya stated that the most important step for their future is to make correct choices regarding their prospective department.
