This is an introductory
course in Database Management Systems. The main aim of the lectures is to teach
students how to model the data at the conceptual level and finally implement
the model in SQL. The emphasis of the lectures is on practical aspects of data
modeling such as creating entity relationship diagrams and normalization. SQL
is taught in the laboratories using Oracle. Lab work is designed to teach SQL
and in particular Select statement in depth.
