EMU PHYSICS DEPARTMENT FACULTY MEMBER ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR. DR. ALİ ÖVGÜN PARTICIPATED IN THE WORKSHOP ON STRING THEORY, HOLOGRAPHY AND BLACK HOLES AT ABDUS SALAM INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR THEORETICAL PHYSICS, ITALY.
Assoc. Prof. from Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Physics. Dr. Ali Övgün attended the String Theory, Holography and Black Holes Workshop held in Trieste, Italy, between 23-27 October 2023. This event was organized by the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), dedicated to the first Muslim Pakistani Physicist to receive the Nobel Prize, Abdus Salam, and was attended by Assoc. Dr. Among many applications, Övgün had the chance to participate here with the scholarship support provided by a limited number of ICTP.
During this prestigious event, Assoc. Dr. Övgün met with the world's leading scientists in the field of theoretical gravitational physics. The workshop hosted approximately 80 international scientists from around the world, and participants included experts from reputable institutions such as Princeton University, CERN, University of Edinburgh, King's College London and the University of Amsterdam.
Assoc. Dr. Ali Övgün occupies an important position among the most influential academics worldwide. As a result of a study conducted in 2023 by a team of American and Dutch scientists under the coordination of Stanford University, Assoc. Dr. Övgün was among the most cited scientists in the world. Also Assoc. Dr. Övgün gained an influential position in the scientific world in his country by being among the 200 most influential scientists of Turkey. His active participation in events such as the String Theory, Holography and Black Holes Workshop not only expands the boundaries of scientific knowledge, but also contributes to the promotion of our country and university and emphasizes the importance of international cooperation.
