Course Outline

Turkish:
Bu ders bilgisayar ağları genel tanımlarını ve kavramlarını içermektedir. Bu derste öğrenciye, gerekli ortam sağlandığında, ortama göre ağı tasarlayarak kablolama ve adresleme standartlarına uygun ağ kurulumunu yapabilmek için gerekli olan temel bilgi ve becerilerin kazandırılması amaçlanmaktadır. Ağ ortamında kullanılan farklı topolojiler ve protokoller ders içerinde anlatılmaktadır.

English:
This course mainly includes networking basics and terms. It introduces the network topologies, cabling and addressing techniques to students in order to develop a local area network. Different network protocols are discussed within the scope of this course.

·         Bakır ortam bağlantılarını yapma,

·         TCP/IP protokol modelini kullanabilme,

·         Yönlendiriciler, yönlendirme temellerini ve türlerini tanımlama,

·         Kablosuz ağları tanımlama,

yeterliliklerini kazanacaklardır.

English:
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
·         Discuss networking basics and structures,
·         Connecting copper cables,
·         LAN cabling,
·         Using TCP/IP protocol model,
·         Describe types and basics about routers,
·         Identify wireless networks.

Türkçe:
·         Ders, haftada iki saat teorik anlatım ve iki saat uygulama şeklinde yapılacaktır.

·         Dönem içerisinde iki tane yazılı kısa sınavlar, bir tane yazılı vize ve bir de yazılı dönem sonu sınavı yapılacaktır.

·         Her laboratuvar seansı sonrasında işlenen konu ile ilgili olarak yazılı lab sınavı yapılacaktır.

·         Dersi alan öğrenciler verilen görevleri yerine getirmekle sorumludur.

·         Dersle ilgili tüm bilgiler (ders materyalleri, duyurular gibi) dersin sitesinde bulunacaktır.

 
English:
·         The course has two hours of lectures and two hours of laboratories in a week.
·         There will be two written quizzes, one written midterm exam and on written final exam within the semester.
·         There will be a written test at the end of each laboratory session.
·         Students are supposed to submit the assigned tasks on time.
·         Course related materials will be posted on the course web site.

Bu ders için doğrudan takip edilen bir ders kitabı yoktur. / No textbook is used directly as a reference for this course.

Turkish:

·         Her öğrencinin bir telafi sınavı alma hakkı vardır. Öğrencinin bir sınava katılamadığı durumda sınav tarihinden itibaren en geç üç iş günü içerisinde sağlık raporu sunmakla yükümlüdür. Telafi sınavı, tüm konuları içerecek şekilde dönem sonu, sınav haftasından sonra yapılacaktır.
·         Sınav sonuçları açıklandıktan sonra bir hafta içersinde aldığı nota itiraz etme hakkı vardır. Bu süre sonunda herhangi bir itiraz dikkate alınmayacaktır.

• Tüm öğrenciler, dersin sitesini ve bu sitede yapılacak olan duyuruları takip etmekle yükümlüdür. Site takip edilmediği takdirde yaşanacak kayıplar öğrencilerin sorumluluğundadır.
• Derslere düzenli katılamayan öğrencilere NG harf notu verilecektir.

English:

• Each student can have only one make-up exam. One who misses an exam should provide a medical report within 3 days after the missed exam. The make-up exam will be organized at the end of the term after the finals and will cover all the topics. No make-up exam will be given for the quizzes.
• Once the grades are announced, the students have only one week to do objection about their grades.
• It is the students' responsibility to follow the announcement in the course web site.
• Students who do not pass the course and fail to attend the lectures regularly may be given NG grade.

Değerlendirme Kriterleri / Grading Criteria :
Turkish:
Harf notları dönem sonunda hesaplanan ortalamalara göre belirlenir.  Ortalamalarının dağılımı Harf Notlarının değerlendirilmesinde önemli bir rol oynayacaktır.

English:
Letter grades will be decided upon after calculating the averages at the end of the semester. Distribution of the averages will play a significant role in the evaluation of the Letter Grades.
