The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) International Office operating under the Vice Rector’s Office for International Affairs and Promotion organized a Moroccan Night at which EMU students had an unforgettable time. The Moroccan Night that took place at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center was attended by EMU’s Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof. Dr. Cem Tanova. The famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square located in Marrakesh was recreated at the entrance of the congress center. This square is home to a number of performances with monkeys and snakes that aim to attract the attention of tourists. A Moroccan student recreated one of these snake dance performances garnering a great deal of attention. Traditional games were played and art portraying Morocco’s weather which allows four seasons to be witnessed in different regions throughout the year was exhibited.

Speaking at the event, Moroccan Student Society President Mehdi Fanan thanked the university’s Moroccan students for their interest in the event and the EMU Rector’s Office for the resources they provide. Fanan continued to indicate that the night would showcase the beautiful culture and traditions of Morocco. The event featured musical performances by two bands (Sardaousse and Zac) comprising of Moroccan students and a cocktail upon the conclusion of the performances. The night was also attended by Nabiha Ghiati, famous Moroccan fashion designer of local clothes.
