Annually organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social and Cultural Activities Directorate for the new students joining the EMU family with the intention of supporting the adaptation period of the new comers and helping them to get to know the university, facilities and the environment, the 27th of EMU Orientation Days began on Monday, 2 September, 2024. Various events will also be held within the scope of EMU 27th Orientation Days. With the said orientation days, it is aimed to provide the best support to the new students for the upcoming 20214-2025 Academic Year Fall Semester.
As part of the EMU 27th Orientation Days program sponsored by North Cyprus Turkcell (KKTCELL), new students will be accommodated in dormitories at EMU following their arrival to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) until the 22nd of September 2024. The students can access all kinds of information from the help desks set at the Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, the Registrar’s Office and the Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School.
Bus services between the EMU-2 Dormitory and EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School will be organized for transportation of students who will take the English Proficiency Exams to be held on 11, 12 and 13 September, 2024.
Tours of the Campus and the City
On Monday, 16 September 2024, a campus tour of EMU will be held for the new students. The tour will commence at 10:00 a.m. from the Social and Cultural Activities Directorate building. During the campus tour, the students will visit EMU Özay Oral Library, Health Center, Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Complex and Faculties. On the other hand, Famagusta city tour will be held on Saturday, 14 September 2024, with the contributions of the Municipality of Famagusta. The city tour will commence 10:00 a.m.
Welcoming Night to be held for Students
On Tuesday, 17 September, 2024 at 07:30 p.m., a Welcoming Night event will be held for new coming students at the EMU Atatürk Square. Within the scope of the event, over 50 student clubs that students can join in accordance with their studies, schools or interests will be promoted. All students and their families are invited to the event that will be organized with the contributions of the Municipality of Famagusta. Food and drinks specific to Cyprus will be served at the Welcoming Night event, which will include a DJ performance and various other performances.
Seminar Videos Prepared Regarding Life in North Cyprus and University Life
Within the scope of the 27th Orientation Days, seminar videos; the “Life in Northern Cyprus” by the Police Department and “Adaptation to University Life” by Psychologist Dr. Fatoş Özeylem Küçük, the Director of EMU Psychological Counselling, Guidance and Research Center (PDRAM), with the aim of easing the adaptation process of the new coming students.
