EMU Students Receive an Award for Their Project

A project prepared by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) School of Business and Finance, International Trade and Business English-medium undergraduate program students Burak Bilgen and Ali İşlek, School of Computing and Technology, Computer Technology and Information Systems undergraduate program student Hasan Kumbur and Cyprus Social Sciences University, Faculty of Law student Halilcan Okutan received an award.

In the "TRNC Inter-University Entrepreneurship and Innovative Idea Competition” organised for the first time in the TRNC through the contributions of the Cyprus Social Sciences University Project and Development Center (KİSBÜ-PARGEM), Turkey's Nicosia Embassy Development and Economic Cooperation Office and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ministry of Education, EMU students have been awarded the second prize with “Intelligent Automation Project: Diğren”. The students received their awards on January 23, 2019 at a ceremony held at the Social Sciences University of Cyprus.

Solutions for Problems were Provided

Burak Bilgen received the award on behalf of the team. During the event which brought together young entrepreneurs from universities in Cyprus with the most acclaimed projects, students also had the opportunity to interact with many business professionals. In line with the competition criteria requesting the participants to present a solution to a problem or an unfulfilled need through the use of local resources in the TRNC,  the projects were presented to the members of the jury by the competition teams.

Jury members evaluating the presentations, namely President of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry Candan Avunduk, Tourism Professional Özbek Dedekorkut, Turkish Bank General Director Erhan Raif, businesspersons Cüneyt Çerkez, Ergün Oza, Zeliha İmamzade, and Evren Erk, academician Fatma Esenyel and Cyprus Evkaf Foundation representative Kerime Darbaz.
