A Matter of Balance: Privacy in The Era of Rapid Technological Advancement, October 25-28, 2022 | İstanbul, TÜRKİYE
The Global Privacy Assembly (GPA), first met in 1979, is a global forum that brings together more than 130 data protection authorities for a 4–5-day event held in October or November every year in a host member country. Serving as a forum for data protection authorities around the world, the Assembly principally aims to work collaboratively through the diffusion of knowledge and experience, and to support the efforts of the authorities in this regard. The number of member authorities in the GPA, which also includes observers, is increasing with every passing year. Our Authority (KVKK - Personal Data Protection Authority) has been participating in GPA activities as a member since 2017. The works that GPA performs can be counted as; adopting Resolutions for recommendation and guidance, publishing Joint Statements, and introducing annual Reports by Working Groups.
The GPA member authorities unanimously accepted the 44th Conference to be hosted by our Country and Authority. This organization, with its high level of prestige in the international arena, will contribute to the recognition of the current and future works that our Country carries out in the field of personal data protection. In this line, our Authority conducts intensive work for this year’s Conference in order to emphasize that KVKK is on its way to becoming one of the important actors in the international arena, as part of the diligence shown on the protection of personal data emerging simultaneously with the technological developments in the digital age.
This year the Conference will be held on 25-28 October 2022 in a hybrid format at Haliç Congress Center in İstanbul. The main theme of the Conference is determined as “A Matter of Balance: Privacy in the Era of Rapid Technological Advancements”, aiming to highlight the importance of achieving a balance between privacy and technologies based on data processing. The Conference consists of an open session, in which member authorities and observer organizations as well as those interested in the field of data protection, business sector, academia, NGOs, professional organizations and press members can participate; and a closed session, which is open only to member authorities and representatives of the observer organizations. During the Conference, various topics such as AI, big data, blockchain, metaverse and cross-border data transfer will be discussed in terms of privacy by taking into account the current developments in technology, and the event will be held simultaneously in Turkish, English, Spanish and French languages. The agenda of the Closed Session covers the following; accreditation of new countries applying to be a member and presentation of reports by Working Groups operating under GPA, discussions on administrative issues related to the management of GPA, and adoption of Resolutions. The Rule of Law in the 21st Century 
The International Conference on The Rule of Law in the 21st Century will be held by Çukurova University, Faculty of Law on November 10-11 2022 in Adana/TURKEY. 21. Yüzyılda Hukuk Devleti başlıklı Uluslararası Konferans Çukurova Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi ev sahipliğinde 10-11 Kasım 2022 tarihlerinde Adana, Türkiye'de gerçekleştirilecektir.
DAÜ’DE “ANAYASAL DEMOKRASİ VE HUKUK DEVLETİ: AKDENİZ PERSPEKTİFLERİ” KONULU ULUSLARARASI KONFERANS GERÇEKLEŞTİRİLDİ
