EMU Offers Recruitment and Internship Opportunities for its Graduates

A three-year capacity building project funded by the European Union (EU) aiming to cater for the demand for qualified workforce in the Turkish Cypriot economy through increasing the quality and effectiveness of vocational education, training and lifelong learning systems  has yielded its results.

Since its launch in 2015, VETLAM (Vocational Education, Training and Labour Market) project, based on the former successful applications of other project components, has developed a Pilot Internship Program (PIP) in close collaboration with the Eastern Mediterranean University.  Within the scope of VETLAM project, graduates of EMU Engineering and Tourism Faculties have completed their trainings in prominent companies and hospitality businesses and received certificates at a ceremony organised for this purpose.

Certificate Ceremony Held at EMU Tourism Faculty

At the certificate ceremony which took place at EMU Tourism Faculty, Engineering Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın delivered a speech for the graduates of EMU Engineering  Faculty who participated in the project. Highlighting the importance of the project in terms of its contributions to the country’s economy, Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın thanked all representatives of firms who provided support towards the project.

After Prof. Dr. Hocanın’s address, Dean of EMU Tourism Faculty Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç provided detailed information on VETLAM project and highlighted its significance. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also thanked all supporting hospitality businesses operating in the tourism sector and project coordinators Vice Dean of EMU Engineering Faculty Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ünveren and EMU Tourism Faculty Internship Coordinator Expert Koral Karamanoğlu for their contributions.

After the presentation of certificates to graduates who completed their training as well as academic staff and experts who provided support towards the project and supporting firms (GÜRDAĞ Trading & Industry Ltd., Shipyard Famagusta Ltd., YONPAŞ Forest Products Industry & Trade Ltd., Limak Deluxe Hotel-Bafra, Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel-Famagusta and Elexus Hotel-Girne), the ceremony came to an end.
