EMU Introduces a New Scholarship System

The first signatures have been put down within the scope of the New Scholarship System application initiated by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) on 23 July 2020. According to the new system, charitable individuals, institutions and organizations will provide scholarships to successful students and/or students with financial difficulties who have gained the right to study at the university under the title of "Scholarship Provider". Private Doğa Schools Limited and Döveç Group of Companies Limited were the first institutions to support EMU's New Scholarship System.

Private Doğa Schools Limited Offers Scholarships to 2 Students

A Student Scholarship Agreement was signed between EMU and Private Doğa Schools Limited on 5 August 2020. Speaking at the Signing Ceremony, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın stated that with the scholarship system developed by EMU, students who are successful and have financial difficulties will be provided with the support of charitable business people, institutions and organizations. Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın went on to state "Thus, we will offer the opportunity of education to our students who are successful but have insufficient financial conditions.". The first protocol offering scholarship to 2 students has been signed with Private Doğa Okulları Ltd. Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın thanked Private Doğa Schools Ltd. for their charitable approach. Cyprus Doğa Schools Director M. Orhan Süslü, who signed the protocol on behalf of Private Doğa Schools Ltd., stated that the purpose of educational institutions is to serve the society and they are happy to be able to help EMU students with this system.

On the other hand, on 7 August 2020, EMU and Döveç Group of Companies Ltd. signed a Student Scholarship Agreement. Drawing attention to the economic problems in the world and our country due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of unity and solidarity in difficult processes, Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın emphasized that the society needs sensitive business people especially during such periods. Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın also thanked Döveç Group of Companies Ltd. for their contributions. Döveç Group of Companies Ltd. Company Director Burçin Döveç stated that as a company, they continue with their social responsibility projects in these days when the world is struggling with the pandemic and economic crisis. Döveç stated that as a company, they provide scholarships to many students, and also support students by offering discounted or free accommodation at Alfam Student Dormitories located within the EMU campus. Döveç added that “We wholeheartedly believe that good deeds and beauties will increase as they are shared. Education is the most fundamental right of our youth, who are the assurances of our future. With this in mind, we are proud to have added a new support to education with EMU. "

New Student Scholarship Agreements will be signed with many institutions and organizations in the coming days.
