EMU Hosted Physics Days

Organised by Eastern Mediterranean University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Pysics, Physics Days – 2017 (http://physicsdays.emu.edu.tr/en) took place at Rauf  Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center between 29 and 30 June 2017.

İzzet Sakallı

At the beginning of the event which commenced with opening addresses at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. on 29 June 2017, EMU Physics and Chemistry Department Chair Prof. Dr. İzzet Sakallı welcomed all participants and stated that their department is the only department providing study opportunities in Physics within the TRNC. Prof. Dr. Sakallı also provided information about physics through the support of a video screening about the subject. At the end of his address, Prof. Dr. Sakallı gave information about the speakers delivering presentations at the event.

Mehmet Ali Özarslan

In his address, Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan extended his appreciation to all attendees for their participation and   also conveyed his special thanks to the keynote speakers of the event, world-famous Physics Professor Prof. Dr. Eduardo Guendelman, and famous journalist and science writer Dr. Zeeya Merali, who has written articles across a range of scientific subjects for Scientific American and Nature Magazine. At the end of his speech, Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Özarslan wished all participants a productive event.

Following the opening addresses, Prof. Dr. E. Guendelman provided information on his own theory called “Black Holes and Baby Universe Theory” as well as his latest work in physics.  Dr. Zeeya Merali delivered a presentation featuring information on her latest research findings. Physics Days 2017, also hosted participants and speakers from Stanford, Rutgers, Boğaziçi and Eastern Mediterranean University.
