23rd EMU Spring Festival About to Begin

Eastern Mediterranean University’s 23rd annual Spring Festival will take place between the 17th and 20th of May, 2017 on EMU campus. Taking place under the sponsorship of North Cyprus Turkcell mobile communications, 23rd EMU Spring Festival’s theme has been released as “No Limits”. The festival will include an array of social, cultural and sporting activities for a period of 4 days.

Parade Walk

The 23rd Spring Festival will begin with a parade walk starting from the Famagusta Youth Academy and ending within EMU campus. The walk on the 17th of May 2017 will begin at 17:30. The official opening of the ceremony will take place at 19:00 with the participation of EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, Vice Rectors and Chair of the Board of Special Olympics Turkey Mehmet Civelek at the Festival Area

As part of the program for the first day of EMU’s 23rd Spring Festival, a workshop with Visual Arts Club artist Prof. Martin R. Baeyens will take place at 11:00. The workshop will be taking place at the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department Exhibition Hall.

A workshop will be taking place at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, where a conference titled “Turkey’s Current Problems” will be taking place at 14:00.Organized by the Atatürk Ideology Club the conference will feature as a speaker the 26th Chief of General Staff of Turkey İlker Başbuğ. At the end of the conference Başbuğ will also be holding a signature session where he will be signing his books.

On the first night of the festival, Bob Marley’s son Ky-Mani Marley will perform a concert on the main stage after a DJ performance at 22:00. Participation is expected to be high for the concert during which Marley will be performing reggae and hip-hop songs.

During the day, a backgammon tournament, a Mathematics Club Go-Sudoku-checkers and Rubik’s cube game, an ultrAslan banner painting competition, Genetics Club DNA isolation,  a Mountaineering and Nature Sports Club climbing activity, Gnçtrkcll reaction games and a Cinema Club open air cinema screening will also be taking place. In addition, the Consonants will be performing on the second stage of the festival from 7:20 p.m. followed by international student community performances, an EMU Music Club performance and a Zumba show.
