The Eastern Mediterranean University’s (EMU) Engineering Faculty continues to train fully equipped engineers as a result of the quality education it provides which has been proven by the accreditations it has received. The Departments of Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering operate under the roof of EMU Engineering Faculty which was established in 1979. EMU provides quality education to over 20 thousand students from 120 different countries. In addition to the quality education it provides via programs accredited by ABET, EMU Engineering Faculty also provides an environment where students can enjoy diverse cultures.

The Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs all stand-out as programs accredited by ABET. EMU Engineering Faculty students and academic staff are members of prestigious organizations and associations including ACM, ASEE, EDC, EEDC, ASME, EAEEIE, EESTEC, ESTIEM, IIE, ACI, ASCE, ICE, ISCP, IAHR, ISSMGE and FEANI. The departments of EMU Engineering Faculty also allow for students to take double major programs. Academic staff and student exchanges can take place between many universities in the European Union and USA/Canada. This comes together with the opportunity to play an active role in inter-university student organizations.
Double Major Opportunities
EMU Engineering Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın stated that students can obtain a double major by continuing their education for just one more additional year. By obtaining two separate engineering diplomas students can increase their chances of finding a job in their field.
Prof. Dr. Hocanın emphasized that the Faculty offers a total of 11 programs. In addition to the Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering and Software Engineering programs which are delivered in English, Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering programs are also available in Turkish.
High Employability Rate
Prof. Dr. Hocanın highlighted the importance of higher education institutions measuring their quality and the international validity of their diplomas before stating that EMU Engineering Faculty periodically goes through the accreditation processes of ABET.
Indicating that most EMU Engineering Faculty graduates find a job shortly after graduation as a result of their diploma being internationally recognised and accredited Prof. Dr. Hocanın noted that statistics reveal that 88.5% of graduates find a gratifying job in a field related to their study within the first year of their graduation. Prof. Dr. Hocanın concluded by indicating that EMU Engineering Faculty graduates are contributing to their communities by climbing the career ladder in numerous well-respected national and international organizations as a result of the high quality education they received at the university.
