With the communication sponsorship of North Cyprus Turkcell, the 28th Orientation Days of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) has commenced within the scope of 2025-2026 Academic Year Spring Semester endeavors. To continue until Friday, the 27th of February 2026, the orientation days aim to support the new students during their adaptation period to campus life, city of Famagusta and North Cyprus, through a rich events program including social cultural activities to academic informative sessions.
As part of the Orientation Days program, a series of online seminars, guided campus and city tours, and social activities will be organized. In addition, an information desk operating all day at the Student Development, Activities and Sports Affairs Directorate will offer guidance and support to students.
Online Informative Seminars Held
Within the scope of the EMU 28th Orientation Days, numerous online informative seminars have been conducted for supporting the adaptation process of new students and their families to university life. The orientation program commenced with these online sessions, ensuring that students were informed about essential aspects of university life even before arriving on campus. The online seminars were conducted by EMU Foreign Student Communities Coordinator Fetine Bayraktar. Under the program, a total of four sessions were held on different days, titled ‘Information Sessions for Families’ and ‘Information Sessions for Students.’
Transportation Services for English Proficiency Exam
Bus services between the EMU-2 Dormitory and EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School will be organized for transportation of students who will take the English Proficiency Exams to be held on 13 February 2026 at 08:00 a.m.
Famagusta City Tour
Famagusta City Tour will be held on Monday, 16 February 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 02:00 p.m., offering students a closer look into the historical and cultural landmarks of the city. Tour busses will leave from the Activity Center building.
Campus Tour
On Wednesday, 18 February 2026, a campus tour will be held for the new students to explore the academic and social settings of EMU. The tour will commence at 10:00 a.m. from the Activity Center building. As part of the tour program, EMU Özay Oral Library, Faculties, Health Center, Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Complex, EMU Beach Club, Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center and Forum EMU will be visited.
Welcoming Night, Intercultural Meet-Up and Student Clubs Presentation
On Friday, 20 February 2026 at 4:00 p.m., the Activity Center will host a vibrant Welcoming Night event where students can meet friends from around the world. The event will also feature a presentation of student clubs, offering a glimpse into the wide range of social, cultural, and sports activities available at the university.
Experience Sharing Gathering and Film Screening
The “Experience Sharing Gathering and Film Screening” event to be held on Friday, 27 February 2026 at 04:00 p.m. at the Activity Center, focuses on boosting the interaction within students in a multicultural setting. Within the scope of the event, students will get the chance to share their personal experiences and have joyful evening with a film screening session.
In her remarks, Orientation Program Committee Chair and Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu stated that the international orientation program aims to help students become closely acquainted with the university, the campus, and life in Northern Cyprus. She also emphasized the importance of making a strong and well-informed start to university life.
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç highlighted that EMU is a long-established public university, welcoming nearly 15,000 students from 105 countries and over 1,000 academics from 35 countries, and has achieved notable accomplishments in international rankings. Referring to the university’s 45-year legacy, he noted that EMU continues its educational and research endeavors with a vision grounded in knowledge, science, wisdom, and future-oriented thinking. He further stressed the significance of students engaging actively not only in academic studies but also in social and cultural life, extending his wishes for a successful university journey to all students.
